Ballard Spahr selected FCA to design a “in place renovation” of their largest office. When we entered the project, the firm had traditional legal space occupying 10 floors at 1735 Market street. The Philadelphia location houses significant firmwide support functions for its national network of over 650 attorneys located in 15 offices. FCA engaged in a 90-day workplace deep dive with a diverse design committee which included senior Attorneys and recent law graduates.
Design goals included shedding two floors of space while increasing the attorney capacity. Additional drivers included creating a new state of the art forward facing conference and event floor, centralized support floor and 6 new light filled pure attorney practice floors.
The change has been transformative and is considered the “design gold standard” in Philadelphia. Ballard Spahr has used this design solution to inform renovations in their other locations as they continue to grow.
