Getinge Cleanroom Manufacturing Facility Phased Renovations

Science & Technology New Jersey
Getinge planned consolidation of various Maquet Cardiovascular manufacturing units from several sites to its Wayne, NJ facility. These moves prompted office modernization and selective renovation of the warehouse and cleanroom manufacturing spaces within the existing industrial park building. The goal was to deliver a contemporary workplace environment and to accommodate new material, process, and personnel workflows, along with the new equipment set-ups coming from other locations.

The project is a phased renovation. Phase 1 included office modernization and modifications to the manufacturing warehouse to accommodate new occupants and processes. Phase 2 includes partitioning and expanding the existing cleanroom suite into two cleanroom manufacturing areas. It was imperative that the existing cleanroom maintain operations during renovation. A temporary cleanroom partition was detailed and constructed to maintain a cleanroom quality separation. Maquet Cardiovascular will be manufacturing and testing class 2 medical devices in the new suite, requiring ISO 5-8 clean space and new gowning facilities. The design team worked closely with Getinge’s process engineers to accommodate the new manufacturing layout and utility distribution, including an overhead Unistrut utility grid.
